Manny Jacinto, the Canadian actor who recently celebrated his birthday (August 19), has undeniably climbed the Hollywood ladder rung by rung, proving that talent and perseverance can make even the highest mountain surmountable. With his latest role in Disney’s Star Wars: The AcolyteJacinto has gained a new army of fans, in addition to the millions who first saw him on NBC’s The good place.

Jacinto’s acting talent is no secret; he has already experienced a lot and played his cards in both big blockbusters and television series. From his supporting role in Top Shooter: Maverick to a number of other impressive performances, he has sharpened his skills like a lightsaber. But despite the hype surrounding his The Acolyte Performance, the ride hasn’t been entirely smooth. Disney+ recently canceled the sci-fi series after just one season, surprising fans.

Note that Headland had previously hinted at big plans for a second season, pointing out “four or five great secrets“ is still waiting to be unraveled (via Entertainment Weekly).

Thanks to her unwavering devotion to the franchise, the series initially enjoyed strong viewership, reaching 11.1 million views within its first five days of streaming. However, momentum faded, and by its third week, the show had disappeared from Nielsen’s weekly top 10 charts (see TVLine)—though it made a brief comeback for the season finale.

Manny Jacinto, who shone as the enigmatic and villainous Qimir, delivered a dark and intriguing portrayal in the series. It’s no surprise that fans praised his role, even after the series’ premature end.

While some fans were intrigued by the new approach, others wondered if the series would ever see a second chapter. Manny Jacinto has previously expressed his hope for another season (via IGN).

Jacinto expressed his admiration for co-star Amandla Stenberg:

I don’t know how we got through it, but we did it. We did it together. Amandla is a professional – she’s so smart. I sound so stupid standing next to her because she’s very wise for her age. I’m crossing my fingers that we can do it again.
