Simone Biles criticized for wearing a Packers jacket at Jonathan Owens’ Bears game

Simone Biles caused quite a stir on the internet after she wore the wrong gear to her husband Jonathan Owens’ second preseason game with the Chicago Bears.

Over the weekend, the gymnast – who just won gold and broke records at the 2024 Summer Olympics – attended a game between the Bears and the Cincinnati Bengals. And like many famous wives and girlfriends of NFL stars, Biles, 27, rocked a glamorous game-day look that was 100% credit to her husband – just not his team.

On Instagram, the athlete posted photos of himself wearing an oversized Green Bay Packers jacket, which is a big no-no in football culture as there is a deep-rooted rivalry between the two teams that dates back to 1921.

Packers fans weren’t happy with Biles’ fashion choice, but she certainly meant well, as her outerwear was decorated with black-and-white photos of Owens from his time as a safety for the Wisconsin team.

Although many on social media did not hold back their disdain for Biles’ jacket, there were a few fans in her Instagram comments section who kindly encouraged her to swap out her Packers attire for a Bears outfit.

“Now it’s time to get a Bears version of this jacket,” wrote one Instagram user.

Someone even tagged Kristin Juszczyk, designer and wife of San Francisco 49ers player Kyle Juszczyk, and asked her to make a Bears jacket for Biles (Juszczyk went viral last season for designing Taylor Swift’s custom Chiefs jacket and other custom clothing for NFL WAGs).

Biles has not yet responded to the backlash, but has since shared photos of her outfit, which includes a Prada bucket hat, overalls and her custom diamond-encrusted goat necklace.

Biles returned home from the Paris Olympics on Aug. 12. Last month, Owens flew in to support her and watch her win the gold medal in the all-around final, but he was unable to stay for Biles’ subsequent individual finals — including the balance beam final and the floor exercise final, where she won silver — because he had to return to the Bears’ training camp.

Owens cheered on his wife in a ’90s-style T-shirt covered in pictures of Biles as a gymnast, and it too was the sweetest moment of the Games.
