American Airlines to suspend flights to Israel until March 2025 – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Due to escalating tensions following the ten-month war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, American Airlines is canceling its flights to Tel Aviv for the second time.

According to the Fort Worth-based airline, operations at Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) will be suspended until March 29, 2025 and the travel warning will be further extended.

Passengers affected by the suspension can rebook free of charge or cancel for a refund.

“We will continue to work closely with our partner airlines to support customers traveling between Israel and European cities with connections to the United States,” the airline said in a statement released on Monday.

In the following cases, rebooking fees will be waived:

  • Traveling on an American Airlines flight
  • Booked in any fare class, including Basic Economy
  • Ticket purchased by February 11, 2024
  • Planned trip October 7, 2023 – March 29, 2025
  • Travel option from October 26, 2024 to April 29, 2025
  • Departure or destination not changed
  • Rebooking to the same cabin or paying the difference
  • Cancelled the trip and requested a refund

American Airlines also stated that customers have until March 29 to make changes. Travel must be completed within one year of the original ticket date and the fare difference may apply.

Following the outbreak of the Middle East war in October 2023, American Airlines has suspended all flights to and from Tel Aviv until December 4, 2023.

Delta Airlines and United Airlines canceled their flights at the beginning of the war but have since resumed operations.
