The world of The Lion King is expanding with the upcoming prequel to the photorealistic adaptation of the popular 2019 animated film. The original film is considered a Disney classic and became a milestone in the studio’s history. The 2019 adaptation, while successful, did not receive the same enthusiasm as the original, as many did not like the photorealistic depiction of their beloved characters and found it disturbing when they showed their emotions.

It begins with Rafiki sitting down with Simba and Nala’s daughter and telling her: “It’s time I told you a story.” The trailer then shows the young, orphaned Mufasa being taken in by Taka (Scar) and her pride of lions. The two young lions soon grow close and bond forever when Scar tells Mufasa that he has always wanted a brother.
The trailer also shows the development of the two characters and the conflict that arises between the pack over Mufasa’s place in the Pride Lands. The two brothers promise to stay together no matter what happens and are ready to fight against anything that comes their way. However, the audience knows that the close bond will break at the end of the film as they become enemies, leading to the events of The Lion King.
