Is CM Punk a ‘cancer’ in the pro wrestling locker room? WWE Hall of Famer gives his verdict

CM Punk has had to deal with problematic allegations recently and a member of the Hall of Fame shared his verdict on the matter.

Last year at Survivor Series, Punk made his long-awaited return to his former company. The former world champion parted ways with AEW and found his way back to the Stamford-based promotion, but he brought with him many problematic allegations.

The Second City Saint’s departure from Tony Khan’s promotion reportedly led to many of their wrestlers referring to Punk as a “cancer,” but CM Punk recently voiced these concerns at Fanatics Fest in New York City.

Just days after Punk spoke out about his reputation, WWE Hall of Fame member Bully Ray shared his verdict on the situation. Speaking to Busted Open Radio, Ray said:

Is CM Punk a cancer in wrestling? In the wrestling locker room? I can only go by what I know about the guy. So with Punk, I go by my own interactions with him. I go by his demeanor, his tone, his intonation, how he acts around other people. And then I also compare that person to myself and my perception out there. Do I think CM Punk is a cancer in the wrestling locker room?

Absolutely not. CM Punk is a guy who is passionate about the professional wrestling business. He’s passionate about what he does. He’s direct; he’s intense. He knows what he brings to the table and he expects you to bring something to the table too.”

Bully Ray talks about CM Punk’s current run

On the same Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray further commented on Punk’s current status. The veteran addressed the “cancer” allegations and questioned their authenticity, comparing them to his current run of success.

If CM Punk was such a cancer, how come he is doing so well in WWE right now?

After his backstage problems with Jack Perry and Tony Khan, the former champion felt it was the right thing to do to part ways with the Jacksonville-based promotion and look for opportunities elsewhere.
