LEGO Harry Potter gift with purchase does not fit in every Diagon Alley

We’ve been waiting for a new LEGO Harry Potter Knockturn Alley model for years, but the latest free with purchase doesn’t match any other set.

After Diagon Alley (10217) in 2011, there were no more LEGO models dedicated to the various shops in Knockturn Alley, although a note appeared in Diagon Alley (75978) that more were planned.

With the reveal of 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network, a new set for Knockturn Alley is technically here, but it might not be what you were expecting. The 190-piece gift with purchase is only enough to cover part of the shop’s interior with a two-pin connector for the shelves that attach to the fireplace. That’s not all it can connect to, though.

This two-pin connection means that 40695 Borgin and Burke’s Floo Network can theoretically be connected to 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes and 76439 Ollivander’s & Madam Malkin’s Robes. It will look out of place in comparison, as it only represents a small part of the interior, rather than a facade of the shop like the other two sets.

Due to the nature of the pin connection, 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network cannot be connected to the Knockturn Alley entrance of 75978 Diagon Alley. However, the same problem as with the smaller Diagon Alley sets would still exist, as it is not a facade of the store.

This may be why the description of 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network states that it complements other sets, including 75978 Diagon Alley, rather than connecting to them.

The new LEGO Harry Potter set may seem a little odd, but the news surrounding its release might pique your interest as more details emerge. It’s also confirmed to be compatible with another upcoming LEGO Harry Potter set.

LEGO has been a part of my life since I was a child. It all started when my brother left me 7657 AT-ST. It followed me through my early years, through school and eventually through my journalism studies. I still proudly display my entire collection, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favorite LEGO Group theme. Outside of Brick Fanatics, I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
