I ate at a popular EPCOT restaurant—here’s why you shouldn’t

A WDW Magazine writer dined at one of Disney World’s most popular restaurants, Le Cellier, and immediately shared his impressions.

Heading to EPCOT for a meal? Home to the World Showcase, this park has some of Disney World’s best restaurants at your fingertips. We’ve eaten at so many of them that we’ve compiled a list of our favorites. One restaurant that everyone is talking about is Le Cellier in the Canada Pavilion. And while the food there is good, there are some better options. I ate at EPCOT’s popular Le Cellier restaurant and here’s why you shouldn’t.

The good of Le Cellier

Just because we say you shouldn’t eat here doesn’t mean there aren’t good things to say about this restaurant.

Unique location and intimate atmosphere

Le Cellier is hidden in the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT. It was designed in the style of a Canadian castle and is meant to mimic a wine cellar in a hotel. This restaurant is hidden in the back of the pavilion and is quite small. The atmosphere of a small restaurant really makes it feel like you are eating in a small wine cellar. The atmosphere is quite cozy and intimate, with lots of wood and wall lamps decorating the space.

A carnivore’s dream

If you love steak, you’ll find plenty of choices on the menu. Le Cellier describes its menu as being inspired by the Canadian provinces. Although there are other options available on the menu, the restaurant is known for its selection of steaks, including the Le Cellier Filet Mignon, Rib-Eye Steak, and Milk-Fed Porcelet Rib Chop.

Why you shouldn’t eat at Le Cellier

Again, we’re not saying you’ll get the worst food ever here. In fact, the food is delicious, but there are a few reasons why we think you should avoid it.

High price

Our main reason for avoiding Le Cellier is the price. Meals at Le Cellier are quite expensive and we understand why since it’s a Signature Dining Experience. Since you’re in the park, it might not be worth it. We feel like you’re paying more for this ultra-themed castle experience here than for the food in front of you.

Reservations are hard to get

Despite the high price, it is really difficult to get a reservation at Le Cellier. One of the reasons it is so difficult to get reservations is the size, which we talked about as a professional. Since there are not many seats, reservations are limited.

The steak was just ok

As I said, the food isn’t bad at all, but it’s just an average tasting steak. That is, it’s really no different from steaks I’ve had before in other steakhouses. For us, the price and quality of the steaks just don’t match up.

Where to eat instead of Le Cellier

If you have been on the blog before, you know that we are huge fans of Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It is a underrated restaurant at the Contemporary, which also houses other great restaurants like Chef Mickey’s and California Grill. But the newest addition, Steakhouse 71, is no less impressive.

Just like Le Cellier, the restaurant offers steaks like Filet Mignon, New York Strip and a Bone-In Rib Chop at much cheaper prices that still taste good. For example, the Filet Mignon at Le Cellier costs a whopping $62, while the Filet Mignon at Steakhouse 71 costs $38. It is also relatively easy to reserve a table at this restaurant as the space is quite large. While you may want to visit Le Cellier for the experience, we recommend hopping on the monorail and heading to Contemporary for a delicious steak!
