On3 Preseason Freshman All-American list: LSU’s Trey’Dez Green

On Monday, On3 announced the Preseason Freshman All-American team and LSU has a 5-star recruit on the list.

Louisiana Trey’Dez Greenwho finished his high school career at Zachary with On3’s 5-star rating and the second-best tight end in the class of 2024, was selected by On3 as a tight end for the 2024 Preseason Freshman All-American Team.

The 1.98 m tall athlete, who is active in two sports, also received an offer from the LSU basketball head coach Matt McMahon – had an impressive start during his first fall camp in Baton Rouge and earned praise from the head coach Brian Kelly during more than one media session this month.

“Well, he certainly looks the part,” Kelly said. “He’s got really good control of his body and he’s very confident. He doesn’t look out of place in any way physically.”

Green makes a splash in a talented TE group

With Michael Taylor back as LSU’s starting tight end and in his second year the 1.98 meter tall tight end Ka’Morreun Pimpton Green shined as a reserve player in fall camp and has still had big moments while knocking on the door for playing time this fall in his first season as a freshman.

“For a player who hasn’t been in this area for very long, he’s settled in very well. He’s finding his feet. I don’t want to say it’s easy for him, but it hasn’t been a very difficult transition for him and that’s all a good sign for players who are in their first year,” Kelly said.

“My experience has shown me that boys with his physical characteristics, which change quickly, tend to show themselves very quickly.”

On3 remains excited about the future of Green, LSU’s TE room

When the rankings for the class of 2024 were finalized, On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power has expressed his opinion on the move, which will make Green not just the second-best tight end in the country, but a 5-star talent.

“I think Trey’Dez is really encouraging,” Power said. “If you look at what LSU is doing under Brian Kelly at the tight end position, you can look at him again in a few years and they have the most talented tight ends in the country.”

Trey’Dez Green And Ka’Morreun Pimpton are two big mismatches. I think the prospect of having those two guys in the same room, let alone on the field at the same time, has to be enticing for LSU fans.”

After Green was selected as a tight end in On3’s Preseason Freshman All-American Team, Power explained in more detail why the LSU freshman was chosen.

“Trey’Dez Green is a great physical talent at tight end, standing 6’10” and 230 pounds,” Power said. “He’s an above-average athlete and a pretty big miss in jump ball situations. Green has already been in two tight end sets and looks to be a great complement to Mason Taylor at LSU. He has reportedly shown very good physicality and encouraging signs as a blocker as well. Given his miss and his integration into the LSU staff, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Green make some big plays early in his first season. Tight end is a position that’s hard to make an impact at as a true freshman, but based on Green’s positive reviews, it looks like he could make an impact in Baton Rouge.”
