Fridayy publishing contract with Prescription Songs extended

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Fridayy has renewed his publishing deal with Prescription Songs, Billboard can announce exclusively on Monday (19 August).

“Prescription feels like home to me,” Fridayy said in a press release. “Huge thanks to Eddie (Fourcell, VP of A&R at Prescription Songs)! Who knows where I would be without him! All I ever needed was a chance, and Eddie and Prescription gave me that.”

The news comes days after his single “When It Comes to You” was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The song, which appears on his 2023 self-titled debut album, peaked at number 29 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and entered the Top 40 on Rhythmic Airplay. It was also Fridayy’s first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 97.

“From the moment Eddie first played Fridayy’s music for me, I knew he was a special talent,” says Lukasz “Dr. Luke” GottwaldFounder of Prescription Songs. “We are excited and honored to extend our publishing partnership with Fridayy and know that this next chapter together will be even bigger and better.”

Friday (real name Francis LeBlanc) first signed with Prescription in 2022. Fourcell had sent DJ Khaled a chorus idea that Fridayy developed, resulting in the creation of the star-studded “God Did,” which features Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, John Legend and Fridayy. “God Did” received three nominations at the 2023 Grammy Awards, which concluded with the hip-hop heavyweights’ performance: Song of the Year, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. It also peaked at No. 17 on the Hot 100 in 2022, marking Fridayy’s highest charting position to date. He also co-wrote the 21 Savage-assisted “Calling For You” song on Drake’s Billboard 200-topping effort For all dogs Album that peaked at number 5 on the Hot 100.

“It’s an honor to work with such an amazing team at Prescription. Six months after I met my brother Eddie, all of our lives changed for the better! If he hadn’t sent Khaled ‘God Did’, none of this would have been possible,” adds Fridayy’s manager Edgar Cutino. “I want to thank Luke and Rhea (Pasricha, Head of A&R, West Coast at Prescription Songs) for giving a great manager the opportunity to sign an unranked kid who has been amazing. Big shout out to our team for the months of hard work it took to make this happen: my partner Chris Washington, our incredible attorneys Brian Drach and Jason Berger, and the amazing Dayna Gomez for keeping everything running smoothly for us.”
