Decay of the Atlantic City Marina, NJ

Decay of the Atlantic City Marina, NJ

There seems to be one constant in Atlantic City: New Jersey Mayor Marty Small.

Small is failing to do his job. Whether it’s the numerous residents of public housing who have had to get by without heat and hot water for years… or the current deterioration of the historic Gardner’s Basin in Atlantic City… which has also been dragging on for years.

The incredible thing is that Small has millions of dollars at his disposal… and yet he still fails to complete his task.

For reasons known only to him, these important issues are not a priority for Small.

We last visited the neglected areas of the Gardner’s Basin marina district (see below) on February 27, 2024.

It seems that almost nothing has been done since then.

We reached out to John Devlin, a boating enthusiast who is anchored at the Golden Nugget Marina.

Devlin shared his thoughts on this update as follows:

As a boater, resident and taxpayer, it is unfortunate to see a gem like Gardner’s Basin in such a dilapidated state. It is baffling to hear the current administration brag that they “do what they say and say what they do.” I have been walking along these docks since I was a child and have never seen them in such poor condition. My thoughts and prayers are with the businesses and families trying to make a living with limited time and very limited resources provided by the city. The area is part of Atlantic City’s culture and one of our last natural resources. To see it in such a mess is very sad and concerning, Devlin said.

I recently visited the Gardner’s Basin area and took the following photos, which show that the Small government has done very little to address the many problems.

We urge Marty Small to just do his job.
