The Air Force Band Woodwind Ensemble Comes to the Sault Area Art Center

The Midwest Winds Quintet of the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America will perform a series of public concerts in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Concerts include:

-September 16, 7:30 p.m., at the Cheboygan Opera House (403 N. Huron St, Cheboygan, MI 49721)
-September 17, 7:00 p.m., at the St. Ignace Public Library (110 W Spruce St, St. Ignace, MI 49781)
-September 19, 4:00 p.m., at Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church (6836 Huron St., Mackinac Island, MI 49757)
-September 20, 4:00 p.m. at the Sault Area Art Center (217 Ferris St, Sault Ste Marie, MI 49783)

Admission to these performances is free and open to the public, no tickets are required. These are family-friendly events for all ages.

The Midwest Winds Quintet was recently featured on the Band of Mid-America’s 2021 “Spirit of the Season” holiday television show, which aired on over 30 television stations across the Midwest. The holiday special won the NATAS Mid-America Regional Emmy for long-form arts and entertainment content. The United States Air Force Band of Mid-America represents the professionalism and excellence found every day in the United States Air Force. During this concert, you will hear many of your holiday favorites played by groups of varying sizes and genres, from our smaller quintets to our jazz band and concert band. All musicians are stationed at Scott AFB in Illinois.

Midwest Winds Quintet

The Midwest Winds Quintet is an ensemble of the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America. Stationed at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, the ensemble honors and inspires our military and civilian audiences with a wide variety of musical literature, from traditional classical repertoire to marches and jazz.

The Midwest Winds Quintet also supports music students and presents concerts and classes in an educational setting. Each program combines inspiration and entertainment, with special programs for younger listeners.

USAF Band of Mid-America

The United States Air Force Band of Mid-America is the primary musical ambassador for Headquarters Air Mobility Command. These talented Air Force musicians have had the honor of performing for Pope John Paul II, Presidents George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, George HW Bush and Jimmy Carter, the Queen of the Netherlands and hundreds of other U.S. and foreign leaders. The band performs free civic and recruitment concerts for audiences throughout the Midwest and plays more than 400 concerts annually. Each year, band members perform live for hundreds of thousands of people and for millions more on television and radio broadcasts.

Whether performing for a head of state, to a sold-out crowd in their ten-state touring region, or for our troops at home and abroad, the USAF Band of Mid-America reflects the heritage and pride of our great nation and the United States Air Force.
