China’s manned deep-sea submersible Jiaolong will make its 300th dive in the Western Pacific on August 18, 2024.
Jiaolong, China’s manned deep-sea submersible, completed its 300th dive on Sunday since its maiden voyage in August 2009.
Jiaolong conducted the dive in the Western Pacific with a crew of one scientist and two submariners. It was the first of 18 planned dives as part of an ongoing scientific expedition.
Since 2009, Jiaolong has explored waters in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans, making a total of 900 deep-sea trips. (Xinhua/Wang Yuhao)
