Art of all media is welcome at Art in Bayfront Park

DULUTH, Minnesota – It’s no secret that Duluth loves art, but this year’s Art in Bayfront Park wasn’t just about visual artists celebrating during the two-day art fair.

This year, the Twin Ports Music Festival joined the large coalition of local and national artists.

Art in Bayfront Park has been a staple of summer in Duluth for 14 years.

This year, over 140 artists set up stalls and sold handmade crafts and decorations. Artists showcased artwork ranging from paintings to pottery, sculptures, clothing, jewelry and much more.

Over the past three years, Art in Bayfront Park has also welcomed over a dozen small businesses from across the state to its Culinary Arts Market.

From bakers to hot sauce vendors and even unconventional mushroom coffee vendors, everything was represented to bring more of what you wouldn’t normally find in the grocery store to Twin Ports.

“Everyone has different products, and we actually have a different product than everyone else because with our original recipes, we’re not really competing with anyone else, whether it’s barbecue sauces or spices or anything like that,” said Tom Lemon, owner of Viking Seasoning. “Duluth always has great people, tourists and locals alike. It seems like people come out and have a very good time. And I think that’s really what it’s about: getting out and enjoying this world.”

Preparations are already underway for next year’s Art in Bayfront Park. Organizers say they are excited to welcome new artists and hope their partnership with the Twin Ports Music Festival continues to grow.

“We’re always looking for new artists, both in the culinary market and in our art market. We’re the jury of this festival, so there’s a panel of fellow artists that goes through all the applications and chooses who can be here. And they’re looking for diversity and uniqueness in your art,” said Stephanie Hansen, the organizer of the Culinary Art Market. “But we really love this festival because we really get to bring a lot of people from all over the Midwest to Duluth to this beautiful waterfront of Bayfront Park.”
