Aspen hosted its annual community picnic on Sunday.
It took place from 1-3 p.m. in Wagner Park. The first 750 attendees received free food from local food trucks like Bumbu Asian Food Truck, Aspen Mini Donuts, Slow Groovin’ BBQ, Domingo Sausage and Petit Mont-Blanc. And there was unlimited dessert from The Dreamery.
New this year was a community talent show that began at 2 p.m.
“These people are the heartbeat of Aspen,” said Wesy Armour-Cook, assistant director of special events.
The picnic also included a children’s party sponsored by Kids First with balloon animals and face painting.
The fair will provide family resources, health screenings, safety information and a variety of free activities for children, including Kidtoons, face painting, art tables, lawn games and more.
Information tents available at the picnic included the Aspen Police Department, City of Aspen, Pitkin County Health Department, Aspen Valley Hospital, Aspen Family Connections, Aspen Parks and Rec, and Mountain Valley Development Services.
A raffle also included RFTA stamp cards, Aspen Rec stamp cards, a golf course card and a ski lift card.
