CASPER, Wyoming – After rebranding from a La Quinta Inn to an AmericInn earlier this year, the local hotel recently completed some extensive renovations.

“The building was hardly modernized or improved (under previous management),” said executive director Tina-Murray Carter. “It was quite a long process to get it up to our standards.”

The hotel has completely remodeled its ground floor, creating more space in the lobby and dining area, and equipping the rooms with new windows, mirrors, furniture and more. A fireplace was also installed in the lobby.

Security measures have also been implemented at the hotel, Carter said. The lobby doors are now locked at 11 p.m. every night. Hotel guests can enter and exit using their key cards. Those who want to stay in a room late at night can still do so, as a bell next to the interior door allows hotel staff to let guests in.

“Safety was our top priority,” Carter said. “Our guests seem to really appreciate the extra security, and people who rent a room after 11 a.m. don’t seem to mind having to use a door opener to let them in.”

The hotel has also completely modernized its pool by building a new structure around the former outdoor pool and connecting it to the rest of the hotel by a corridor.

“Because we’re so close to the (North Platte River), there were always a lot of mosquitoes and flies in the pool. It was horrible,” Carter said.

The hotel has 120 rooms and each one has been renovated with new beds, furniture, lighting, a fresh coat of paint and more.

“This is the improvement I’m most excited about,” Carter said. “We want to give our guests the best stay possible, and that starts with the rooms.”

In addition, the pipes were replaced throughout the hotel and new water heaters were installed.

The final part of the redesign was the exterior painting work, which was recently completed.

“We still have a few small things we want to do, like replacing the key card readers on the door,” Carter said. “But all of the major changes are now complete and we couldn’t be happier with the result.”
