John D. Fowler Sr. 1937-2024 | News, Sports, Jobs

SEBRING – John D. Fowler Sr. of Copeland Oaks, Sebring, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Aultman Alliance Hospital surrounded by his family.

John, originally from Berlin Center, was born on December 17, 1937 in Richmond, Virginia, to William and Rebecca Fowler.

He served his country in the United States Navy.

He owned and operated Fowler Tire and Auto Service for 13 years before retiring in 2000. Prior to that, he worked as a printer at MPI Label Systems in Sebring for over 20 years.

John was a member of Berlin Center United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #737, Masonic Meander Lodge #765, and the Automotive Service Association. He enjoyed bicycling, long car rides, gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lois Thompson Fowler. They married in 1958 and shared 48 wonderful years together before she passed away in 2006. He was also predeceased by his parents and 12 siblings: Louise Bradley, William Fowler Jr., Margaret Jones, Dan Fowler, George Fowler, Calvin Fowler, Ann Cosby, JC Fowler, Buddy Fowler, Wilson Fowler, Nancy Hailey and Wayne Fowler.

John is survived by his four children, David (Michelle) Fowler, Wanda (Mark) Huberman, Sandy (William) Winans and Ed (Donya) Fowler; his sisters, Phyllis Wittsell and Jane Mantlo; his 10 grandchildren, Adam (Jaime) Fowler, Brian (Holli) Fowler, Kathleen Crawford, Jake (Justine) Fowler, Heather (Ken) Godoy, Lisa Huberman, Bill (Jessica) Winans, Josh (Crystal) Winans, Tyler Winans and Liz (Chris) Moore; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Berlin Center United Methodist Church, 15611 W. Akron Canfield Road, Berlin Center, OH 44401.

On August 17, a memorial service will be held in the church at 3 p.m., followed by military honors.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Berlin Center United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
