Two stories, one moving film – GX94 Radio

Two stories, one moving film – GX94 Radio

Hello, movie lovers! 🌟 I recently watched The longest journey for the first time, and I have some thoughts that I just had to share.

At first I thought I knew what to expect: a classic story about a city girl who falls in love with a gruff bull rider. And that part of the story was there, with all the romantic ups and downs you could want. But there was so much more!

Out of nowhere, the film shows this whole other side of the movie involving an old man and flashbacks to his life with his wife. It was such a heartfelt addition, but honestly it felt like I was watching two different movies at once. Each story was beautiful and touching on its own, but together the stories felt forced together rather than blended together.

Don’t get me wrong – I loved the movie! But I thought to myself: wouldn’t it be great to have an entire movie just about the girl and the bull rider and another movie dedicated to the old man’s story? There was so much going on in both movies that I think they deserve their own focus.

The thing with the two stories reminded me a lot of The notebookwhich, in my opinion, better combined the two stories into one coherent film. The longest journeythe change between the young love story and the past of the old couple sometimes felt a bit irritating, while The notebook has succeeded in merging past and present seamlessly.

You can stream the film on Crave and Disney+

In total, The longest journey is a great experience full of romance, drama and emotional moments. If you haven’t seen it yet, I definitely recommend you give it a chance. Just be prepared for the back and forth of the two stories. It might feel like you’re watching two movies in one, but both are worth it.
