Mild weather is expected for the rest of the weekend and the start of the work week following the brief but heavy thunderstorms that the northern part of the state experienced Saturday night.

Thunderstorms intensified Saturday afternoon, bringing heavy rain and strong winds across the region. Gusty winds even tore down large tree limbs in some areas and produced fairly large hail.

Northstate News viewers shared their photos and videos with us on Chime-In showing the intensity of the storm.

Jerry Kelley shared a video from Gold Hills showing wind whipping the branches of trees in front of his home as the rain poured down.

In Happy Valley, Coleen Wogoman shared the following photos of an unusual cloud formation.

Dorothy Willis submitted her video of heavy rains pounding her home east of I-5.

Near Mary Lake, strong winds whipped around the palm trees as rain fell sideways.

The gusty winds also posed a challenge for firefighters battling wildfires in the park and Boise. Although no major fires occurred as a result of the storms, firefighters are on high alert Sunday, looking for any spot fires that may have gone undetected overnight.
