A United Airlines flight from Houston to Boston was diverted to Northern Virginia on Sunday “after a customer experienced a medical issue,” United said.

The airline did not disclose the nature of the illness on Flight 2477, but a radio recording shared by flight tracking company RadarBox suggests there may have been some kind of biological hazard on board.

“It’s pretty bad back there. It’s still really bad. The crew is vomiting and passengers everywhere are asking for masks, etc.,” says a voice on the recording, presumably from the flight crew. RadarBox attributed the recording to @Thenewarea51, who in turn attributed the audio to Bill B. on X, formerly of Twitter. “Especially since this is a biohazard, I think we probably need to get this plane on the ground as soon as possible.”

There were 155 passengers and six crew members on board, and none of them required medical attention upon arrival at Washington Dulles International Airport, United said.

United said the Boeing 737-800 underwent a “thorough cleaning” and took off with passengers and crew at 5:17 p.m. ET.

The airline’s flight tracker shows that the flight arrived in Boston more than five hours late.
