HÀ NỘI – Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm met on Sunday afternoon with representatives of Chinese friendship scholars, families of revolutionary generals, experts and advisers who had assisted Vietnam during its wars of resistance, as well as officials and staff involved in the preservation of historical sites related to the Vietnamese revolution.
The meeting was also attended by prominent Chinese intellectuals, scientists and Vietnam researchers, former Chinese ambassadors to Vietnam and representatives of Chinese youth.
This was part of the leader’s state visit to China during his stay in the city of Guangzhou in Guangdong province.
The Chinese delegates shared emotional memories of President Ho Chi Minh during his time in China, recalled the days they spent alongside Vietnamese war veterans, and discussed efforts to preserve, maintain and promote Vietnam’s revolutionary historical sites in China.
They reiterated their determination to continue the deep friendship between Vietnam and China and to unswervingly pursue common ideals and mutual trust in the development and growth of both countries.
Secretary-General and President Tô Lâm expressed his joy at meeting with representatives from various sections of the Chinese people who have promoted and will continue to promote the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China.
Expressing his emotions, he pointed out that the first stop of the high-level Vietnamese delegation during this visit to China was Guangzhou, the place where President Hồ Chí Minh first arrived exactly 100 years ago after traveling abroad for 13 years to seek a way to save the nation.
In Guangzhou, President Hồ Chí Minh prepared the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League and trained many of the most important leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
In Guangzhou, the leader also actively participated in the Vietnamese and Chinese revolutionary movements as well as in the international communist movement.
General Secretary and President Tô Lâm reiterated that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always value and are grateful for the valuable support and assistance of the Chinese Party, State and people for the revolutionary cause of the Vietnamese people in the past and in the current development and construction of the country.
He expressed his belief that every delegate would continue to promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and shared future community between Vietnam and China.
The meeting was jointly organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Foreign Friendship, the Vietnamese Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Guangzhou.
Secretary-General and President Tô Lâm, his wife and the high-level delegation of Vietnam arrived in Beijing on Sunday evening, continuing their state visit to China from August 18 to 20. – VNS
