Packers at Browns: Six things you should know

One: Jordan Love and most of the Packers’ starting lineups will be in action, but how much they will play remains to be seen.

“I mean, going out there and scoring on one play and taking the ball away on defense on one play,” coach Matt LaFleur joked about his goal. “You want them to go out there and fight, execute, play clean and then get out.”

When Love’s day is over, Sean Clifford will be next in line and will “take more reps” than rookie Michael Pratt, who will finish.

“As far as the number (of snaps), I think it’s a feel thing,” LaFleur said. “We’ll see how long Jordan plays and then we’ll just adjust from there. A lot of it just depends on the flow of the game, how the game goes, how many plays we get. But we definitely want to see both guys.”

Two: While Love will be the Packers’ starting quarterback, Deshaun Watson will not be in the Browns’ lineup. The Packers’ secondary, which has produced a lot of great plays on the practice field, will still have an experienced, high-quality quarterback in Jameis Winston.

“Jameis has done a great job from day one,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said. “He definitely has an infectious personality. You hear him before you see him. Not surprisingly, he is a team player through and through. He really wants to win.”

In the two seasons since being signed by the Browns, Watson has only started 12 games.

Winston said this week of Watson: “A lot of people forget that when you go out and watch practice, you can do bells and whistles, this and that, Paddy Wack, give a dog a bone. Deshaun Watson will turn it on. He will always find a way to shine when the lights come on.”

Three: Even though it’s not the regular season, it will still be the rookies’ NFL debut. Safety Javon Bullard, who is on track to become the opening day starter alongside Xavier McKinney, has dreamed of this moment for years.

“It’s going to be huge,” he said. “I can’t really describe the moment because I haven’t experienced it yet, but I can only imagine what it will be like.”

Four: The Green Bay Packers’ defensive line was the best unit of training camp. Is this success a sign of things to come or a byproduct of dealing with an offensive line that is still in development? The game against the Browns will provide some answers.

“I’m really excited,” said veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark. “I’ll be out there on the sidelines cheering the guys on. I can’t wait to see the D-line go crazy out there. They’re getting better every day. I’m excited to see what they’ll do out there in that game environment against somebody else.”

Five: Your meaningless history lesson for today is that the Browns lead the all-time preseason series 14-11. Green Bay has won four straight games in the regular season.

Six: The Browns are 4-point favorites at DraftKings And 3.5-point favorite in the Fan Duel.
