What does ‘humble’ mean? Why does everyone use it? The TikTok trend explains.

The description demure was the traditional way of describing a woman who was quiet, reserved or modest in her demeanor or personality, certainly the opposite of daring, flashy and loud.

TikTok user Jools Lebron has gained some notoriety for her new use of the word “low-key.”

She used the words “reserved” and “mindful” to describe behaviors at work, on airplanes, around others, and regarding her appearance.

According to the dictionary definition, the word “demure” means reserved, modest, serious, shy and the term “mindful” means to be conscious or aware of something.

Lebron’s use of the word would describe “humble” as classy, neat, subtle, or elegant in a cute way. She started the trend with a TikTok video on August 2, “How to Be Low Key at Work,” she says: “See me come to work, very low key, I put my makeup on, I put my wig down, I do a little braid, I straighten my hair, I do chi-chi-bout, I do viral vanilla, very low key, very mindful, let’s not forget to be low key divas.”

The original TikTok video post received millions of likes and she has since made many other videos in the same style describing how she handles everyday situations such as how she dresses when she goes to work, how she dresses on a plane, how to dress modestly when visiting New York, how to have a drink modestly, how to behave modestly around hotel staff, how to respond modestly to drama, how to wear a Kim Kardashian wig modestly and many more how-tos.

LeBron’s TikTok video about how to be low-key, humble and respectful in the workplace has been viewed over 22 million times.

LeBron started a trend that has now gone viral, with other users posting videos and videos about how they behave “low key” in their daily lives or activities.

In a more recent TikTok video from Tuesday, LeBron tearfully posted how the “modest” trend has changed her life.

“Maybe you should do the videos, because one day I played cashier and made videos on my break, and now I’m flying across the country hosting events and I’ll be able to finance the rest of my transition.”

In addition to being a makeup artist and TikTok influencer, Lebron also used the platform to open up about her life as a “plus-size trans woman” in a TikTok video last year: “Growing up, I was always interested in feminine things. I like dolls, I was always interested in Disney princesses and Bratz, some things never change,” she recalls. “Of course, my family thought it was a phase… it wasn’t. But growing up, I never saw myself as a boy who was into other boys. I always thought, ‘I’m the girl.'”
