Chicago DNC 2024: Street closures, parking restrictions
The Democratic National Convention will arrive in Illinois in just one week and security preparations will soon begin.

In less than three months, the Democratic National Convention will take place, where Vice President Kamala Harris will officially accept the party’s nomination while Democratic leaders and delegates gather for the multi-day event.
President Joe Biden’s decision to abandon his re-election campaign last month prompted Democrats to rally behind Harris, who became the official nominee in early August, choosing Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
USA TODAY reported that Harris’ campaign raised $310 million in July, more than double what former President Donald Trump’s campaign raised..
The two took part in campaign events and fundraisers.across the country, including Walz’s performance in Los Angeles on Tuesday, CBS News reported.

Democrats from across the country attend the convention every four years to express their support for the presidential and vice presidential candidates.
When is the DNC?
The Democratic National Convention will take place from Sunday, August 19th to Thursday, August 22nd.
Where is the DNC?
The Democratic Party Convention is taking place in Chicago this year. The Democratic Party Convention called the city a “perfect place to teach Americans about the history” of Harris, Walz and the Democratic Party. The city “represents the diversity” of the party and the country and is a “Democratic stronghold.” Biden won the state in the 2020 presidential election, making him the youngest Democratic candidate to win the state since 1992, according to the New York Times.
Program and party activities will take place at the United Center and McCormick Place Convention Center.
How can I watch the DNC?
The official live stream of the DNC will be available on DemConvention.com, but there are many other ways to watch. These include social media platforms and live streaming services such as YouTube, X, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Twitch, according to the DNC. People can also watch the DNC through Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Roku TV and Fire TV. The DNC will also air on the major networks.
Who are the speakers at the DNC?
Although the DNC has not yet released a speaker schedule, several speakers have been confirmed for the convention.
According to NBC, these include former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton as well as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
NBC also reported that former President Jimmy Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter, will speak at the convention “representing his grandfather.”
President Joe Biden will deliver a speech on Monday that “will amount to a changing of the guard ceremony for Democrats,” Axios reported.
The DNC on Wednesday announced speakers for the 33 council and caucus sessions during the convention, including Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and others.
Politico also reported Wednesday that California congressmen Rep. Pete Aguilar and Sen. Laphonza Butler would hold press conferences.
When are the presidential elections?
The US presidential election will take place on Tuesday, November 5th.
