Online reactions to Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Steel Balti’ vase: ‘The only thing I can afford from her lavish Mumbai home’ | Bollywood

To say that Sonam Kapoor’s Mumbai home is beautiful would be an understatement. The actress, who shares the huge apartment with her husband Anand Ahuja and son Vayu, gave a tour of her home in a recent video and cover interview with Architectural Digest India. Sharing a short clip from the impeccably curated, India-inspired celebrity home, a fan said that probably only one item seemed affordable in Sonam’s house – a “steel balti (bucket).” Read also: Step inside Sonam Kapoor’s stunning Mumbai home, which is nothing less than a maximalist antique shop

“I use it as a vase in the house and I think it’s kind of great.”

Sonam Kapoor said she likes to use ‘Balti’ as a vase.

The fan page shared a snap of Sonam talking about the decor of her bar area, where a ‘steel balti’ has been used as a vase and placed on a marble and wooden table along with many glass vases. The caption read, “Steel balti… the only thing I can afford from her lavish Mumbai home.”

Sonam said in the clip, “This is actually an old Indian balti or bucket… these balties were actually used for bathing. So I use it as a vase in the house and I find it kind of awesome.”

Reactions to Sonam’s “Steel Balti” vase

One Instagram user commented on the fan page’s video that the bucket was not made of steel but silver, writing: “If you look closely at the video, it’s a silver Balti.” The fan replied: “Stop calling me poor in 100 languages…”

Another person also said, “This is what she (Sonam) said… that she was gifted the silver bucket and is using it as a vase.” However, some were convinced that it was not a silver bucket. One wrote, “No, it is made of steel.”

“Basically it’s a sambhar bucket”

Someone also joked about Sonam’s ‘Balti’: “Basically, it’s a bucket of sambhar at Indian weddings.” Another responded: “Not just sambhar, any Indian dish at celebrations.”

One Instagram user wasn’t quite sure if they could steal decor ideas from Sonam’s luxurious home, writing, “These things only look good in their (celebrity) homes… if we did that, people would take it differently…”

Sonam on her “too adult” taste

Sonam’s home offers a masterclass in maximalism. In her interview with AD, the actress, who was last seen in Blind (2023), spoke about her home and said, “I know some of my contemporaries will find my taste too adult, but my approach was two-fold: first, I want to be an ambassador for Indian decorative arts, and second, I wanted to emulate the homes I grew up in with a fresh perspective.”
