Air India responds after crew member attacked in London hotel room; intruder arrested

An Air India flight attendant was reportedly attacked by an intruder in her room at London’s Radisson Red Hotel last week, the airline said in a statement on Sunday.

Air India said it was working with authorities to ensure that the “unlawful break-in” at the international hotel chain’s Heathrow branch in the early hours of Thursday was thoroughly investigated.

The intruder allegedly attacked the crew member who was sleeping in her room at around 1.30 am. When she screamed for help, he attacked her with a coat hanger and dragged her across the floor so that she could not reach the door, The Times of India reported, citing sources.

The intruder was caught and handed over to local authorities.

The injured victim was taken to a nearby hospital before his flight from Mumbai. “We are providing our colleague and his extended team with all possible support, including professional advice,” the airline said.

Although Air India confirmed that the victim was physically attacked, the airline did not respond to reports of an alleged sexual assault.

The airline asked everyone to respect the crew member’s privacy while London police investigate the incident, adding that it is working with hotel management to avoid such incidents in the future.
