SINGAPORE – Singapore Airlines (SIA) and low-cost carrier Scoot carried a combined 3.3 million passengers in December 2023, 24.4 percent more than the previous year.
Releasing its operating results for December 2023 on Monday (January 15), the SIA Group added that its passenger volume increased by 15.8 percent year-on-year, while passenger capacity increased by 16.1 percent. It recorded robust load factors across all route regions during the year-end peak travel period.
The group also reported a passenger load factor (PLF) of 89.4 percent, with SIA and Scoot recording monthly PLFs of 88.7 percent and 91.7 percent respectively.
According to SIA, freight transport increased by 4.3 percent year-on-year due to stronger demand in e-commerce.
“However, as increased passenger services resulted in higher cargo capacity, the cargo load factor was 52.6 percent, 1.7 percentage points lower than the previous year,” SIA said.
During the month, SIA also resumed flights to Xiamen, China.
At the end of December 2023, the group’s passenger network covered 121 destinations in 35 countries and territories. SIA served 76 destinations, while Scoot served 67 destinations. The cargo network covered 126 destinations in 37 countries and territories.
