Deion Sanders criticizes media during Colorado football team press conference

Deion Sanders attacked several members of the media, including Sean Keeler of the Denver Post and a reporter from local CBS affiliate Denver, during a press conference for the Colorado football game on August 9 – which also happened to be his 57th birthday. Coach Prime assured him that it was not personal, but did not answer his questions.

Keeler, who constantly criticizes Coach Prime since taking office in Boulder, was personally confronted by Sanders. Deion asked how Keeler could even talk to him, since it was clear that the Denver Post columnist did not like him. Keeler tried very hard to cajole the Buffs head coach in advance of his question, but Sanders was unimpressed. The question was never asked.

“You don’t like us, man,” Sanders said to Keeler. “Why are you doing this to yourself? It would be hard for me to be involved with someone I don’t like. What did I do? What happened to make you like this?”

Sanders told the reporter from CBS affiliate Denver that it was all love and respect, but he still did not want to answer his question. This may have been related to Sanders’ ranked No. 15 coach in the Big 12 in July.

Sanders isn’t tired of the job at CU. He’s just tired of the media coverage it’s getting, especially from major Denver publications.

As for his Buffs, Sanders was overjoyed with nearly every aspect of his team just weeks before the season opener.

“I feel much better with the team and also the staff,” said Sanders (h/t Jake Schwanitz of DNVR Buffs). “The coordinators are phenomenal, we all have a really good bond. I feel really good, a lot better (than last year). We feel really good. I’ll be sexy when the first game happens.”

Sanders didn’t look particularly sexy as he mercilessly attacked the local media. He lost his composure, but a win would likely give it back to him.
