Brentwood’s miXt Food Halls plans outdoor art on Route 1

The miXt Food Hall in Brentwood is planning a new public artwork.

Located at 3809 Rhode Island Avenue next to the Studio 3807 apartment building, the Market Hall is currently seeking an artist to design, create and install a work of art on the terrace facing Rhode Island Avenue.

According to a tender issued by the Food Hall, the artwork can be attached to the building or railing or embedded in a flowerbed. The work must also be washable and resistant to the local climate.

The selected artist will receive a fee of $2,000 and materials valued at up to $500.

The deadline for submissions is September 15, with the goal of installing the artwork in November. Artists considering submission should include a rough sketch with a descriptive narrative and examples of previous work.

Submissions are limited to three per artist. All questions and submissions should be sent to Sandy Patterson at [email protected].
