Now that Method Dressing has become the standard for the red carpet, it seems that we can expect every actor to dress appropriately to the themes of their upcoming films. A seasoned professional, Jenna Ortega has already embodied characters from the past by her clothes – especially Wednesday Addams – and it seems as if she is eating her steak on the press tour for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

For a fan event in Mexico City, Ortega slipped into a custom dress made in collaboration between her stylist Enrique Melendez and Saudi Arabian label Lurline. The dark green ensemble features a sculptural strapless neckline and lace-up details. An intricate molding technique even brought one of the film’s scenes to life, taking inspiration from the zombie character Bob, who seemed to appear in the form of a shrunken head on the dress itself.

The creature sat in the middle of Ortega’s corset before merging into a vein-like embossing, and beneath it, the skirt of her dress featured large diagonal seams. Sarah and Siham Albinali, the sister duo behind Lurline, told WWD that they “added leather cords to accentuate the sewn-up mouth” of the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Zombie.

Ortega completed her soft gothic look with matching teal heels with Melendez’s help. She also added a vampy touch to her glam by wearing dark red lipstick and black eyeliner. As for her hair, she wore her long black locks straightened with fluffy bangs.

Earlier this week, the actor took part in a photo shoot in a gothic dress from Vivienne Westwood’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection. With whimsical lace details on a mesh background, the dress captures the spooky theme of the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Film.

In the eagerly awaited Beetlejuice In the sequel, Ortega stars alongside cast members from the original 1988 film, including Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara. She plays Astrid, the teenage daughter of Ryder’s Lydia Deetz.

“Everyone wanted to be Lydia after seeing the first film,” Ortega said in an interview for Harper’s Bazaar Cover story August 2024 about Ryder. “She’s so confident and smart and ahead of her time.”

Ortega added that her older co-star “definitely helped me feel less alone.” She continued, “It’s a very isolating and scary experience. Being able to talk to someone who has experienced this firsthand, maybe even more so, has been a huge source of comfort for me, and I can’t thank her enough for that.”
