See fans in cosplay on opening day of D23 Expo in Anaheim – Orange County Register

On Friday, August 9, the D23 Expo returned to the Anaheim Convention Center and fans lined up to attend the sold-out three-day event, which includes exhibits, panels, presentations and shopping all about Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars.

The expo includes 55 panels and presentations, as well as 175 exhibit floor offerings and interactions with Disney celebrities. Major nighttime presentations take place at the Honda Center after daytime events at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Attractions include the Imagineering: Behind the Dreams pavilion, hosted by Disney Parks and Experiences, which features design models and prototypes of new rides, shows and lands being introduced at Disney theme parks around the world.

The Lightstorm Pavilion will be of particular interest this year to fans who want a taste of the Avatar-themed land at Disneyland Resort. Inspired by the alien world of Avatar, the walk-through experience lets visitors “discover the fascinating Na’vi culture, explore the bioluminescent forest, and soar through the mountains like a banshee.”

Many of the thousands of fans flocking to Anaheim this weekend will be dressed as their favorite characters from Disney movies and television shows.

D23 runs until Sunday, August 11th.
