We celebrate Nyah Mway’s birthday

A street party was held in honor of the birthday of the Utica teenager who was killed by a police officer earlier this summer. Nyah Mway, 13, was killed as he fled from police and displayed what looked like a Glock during a struggle but was actually a pellet gun, police said.

Mway was shot while lying on the ground.

His family and community members celebrated his 14th birthday on August 8.
