The whole Beau DeMayo-Disney drama is interesting but also complicated and has been followed by the media and fans for months. The creator/writer of the hugely successful Emmy-nominated show X-Men ’97 was fired from the show in March 2024, with no reason given for his sudden dismissal.

DeMayo has made some controversial statements about Disney recently, claiming he was removed as a writer from Season 2 of the show because of a gay pride post he made in June (via X). Two days ago, Disney finally released a statement and announced that “Mr. DeMayo was fired in March 2024 following an internal investigation.” and the company had uncovered some allegedly “outrageous” findings (via Variety). DeMayo’s lawyer has now criticized the company’s alleged gaslighting tactics and claims to plan to present evidence proving the creator’s innocence regarding the allegations against him (via Deadline).

His lawyer also called Disney a well-oiled machine that will pin the blame on anyone they feel is a threat to the company. Fans of X are shocked by the turn of events and believe this fight has turned ugly and could seriously damage DeMayo’s reputation. Here are some of the reactions:

DeMayo seems confident that he can prove his innocence regarding the allegations made by Disney. However, fighting against such a large and powerful company could come at a high price because if he is indeed found guilty of the allegations, his career could come to an abrupt end.
