Three Big Ten teams this week cracked CBS Sports’ latest College Football Playoff bowl predictions for the 2024 season.
In the first iteration of the expanded 12-team postseason scenario, Ohio State lands at No. 2, Oregon at No. 6 and Penn State at No. 9 to represent the Big Ten Conference in this forecast. The forecast also includes Georgia at No. 1, Utah at No. 3 and Florida State at No. 4.
Unlike past seasons, this winter’s playoff bowl games will feature games between the four highest-rated teams and the first-round winners.
A season ago, Michigan, Washington, Texas and Alabama would have made up the top four teams in the playoffs and received a bye in the first round. The other eight teams will play in a knockout format in the first round. In addition, the higher-seeded teams will host the lower-seeded teams on campus in the first round.
CBS has Penn State playing No. 8 Texas A&M and No. 11 Kansas State against Oregon in the first round. By virtue of a top-four seed, Ohio State would play the winner of the No. 7 vs. No. 10 game.

Although Wisconsin is not included in this hierarchy, wins against top teams like Alabama, Oregon, Penn State or USC could give the team a spot in the playoffs.
