Today is Madonna’s birthday, which is practically a holiday in West Hollywood. To celebrate, DJ Tracy Young and DJ Dawna Montell are dedicating their setlist to the Queen of Pop at The Abbey Food and Bar, 692 Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood.
“It’s that time again!” DJ Tracy Young posted on her Twitter account. “It’s our queen @madonna’s birthday and we’re celebrating Friday night August 16th at The Abbey West Hollywood in Los Angeles!! DJ @dawnamontell and I are here to tell you!! #madonna #happybirthdaymadonna #theabbey.”
According to the party flyer, Dawna Montell will take the stage at 5:00 p.m. and Tracy Young will start her set at 9:00 p.m.
The two experienced DJs have some of the Madonna’s greatest hits, some official and some unofficial promos.
With more than 25 years in the music industry, Young has produced over 60 No. 1 Billboard dance hits and collaborated on remixes with over 100 artists, including 14 exclusively for Madonna. Her “I Rise” (Tracy Young Pride Intro Radio Remix) for Madonna was nominated and won in the Best Remixed Recording category at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, marking the first time a female producer was nominated and won in that category.
Madonna is celebrating her birthday in Italy. The party made headlines earlier this week when rumors emerged that the pop icon was planning to host a dinner for 500 guests at the ancient Great Theater, a 2,200-year-old amphitheater in Pompeii. Built in the second century BC and now occasionally used for theater and music performances, the theater was reportedly booked for 30,000 euros.
However, officials at the Pompeii Archaeological Park denied claims that Madonna had planned a lavish birthday party at the historic site, calling the rumors “unfounded.”
The rumors had caused outrage among heritage experts. Some criticized the possible use of a UNESCO World Heritage site for a private event. Despite all the denials, the first reports had caused considerable controversy.
