Isolated thunderstorm probabilities for the weekend before the cooling

Isolated thunderstorm probabilities for the weekend before the cooling

It rained again in Green Country on Friday night, so sultry temperatures were forecast for the weekend.

What’s the weather like this weekend?

Maximum temperatures on Saturday will be between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius, and the heat index will be between 40 and 49 degrees Celsius.

Maximum temperatures and heat index until midweek next week.

In the afternoon, a weak surface boundary approaching the state will gradually bring some drier air to northern Oklahoma on Sunday and into the evening hours.

It will continue to be muggy on Sunday, but there will be a break from the extreme heat and humidity early next week, with lows on Monday morning above 18 degrees and highs in the afternoon above 27 degrees.

After Friday night and before dawn, most data does not support exceptionally high probabilities, but we will continue to keep these near and east of the Tulsa metro, including Sunday night and even more so Monday night into the early hours of Tuesday morning.

These probabilities are located on the northeastern edge of the upper air ridge.

EMSA HEAT SAFETY TIPS:

  1. Hydration is key to preventing heat-related illness. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement drinks several hours before and during prolonged exposure to summer heat.
  2. Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat when working outdoors, and take frequent breaks in the shade.
  3. No alcohol or caffeine.
  4. If you don’t have air conditioning, find a cooling station or a public place (such as libraries or shopping malls) during the day.
  5. Do not restrict the use of the air conditioning.
  6. When working outside, use the buddy system and look out for older neighbors.
  7. Always carry a mobile phone with you when outdoors, such as when walking, running daily errands, gardening, or participating in sports and physical activities.
