EVANSDALE, Iowa (KCRG) – Lyric was 10 and Elizabeth was 8 when they disappeared after a bike ride through Evansdale on July 13, 2012. Hunters found their bodies five months later.
Twelve years later, a new documentary series may attract enough attention to provide new clues.
The three-part series titled “Taken Together: Who Killed Lyric and Elizabeth?” can be viewed on the streaming platform HBO Max.
“It was very difficult to watch,” said Drew Collins, Elizabeth Collins’ father.
Drew Collins appeared on the series and helped tell the story of the cousins’ kidnapping and death.
“We’ve done a lot of these interviews and dealt with a lot of different people. A lot of different scenarios,” Collins said.
In the third episode, Collins confronted someone who might have been involved in the case.
“As I talk to him and try to get information, the question in the back of your mind is, ‘Is this the guy?'” Collins said.
Collins said he has received many calls from people who have already seen the series, and one of the reasons for creating the documentary was to draw more attention and possible leads to the case.
“I think it will get people talking again, and that’s what we want. The more we can get people in the community talking, the better,” Collins said.
