Ranking of the 10 best offensive players in the Big 12

Ranking of the 10 best offensive players in the Big 12

The Big 12 has plenty of talented offensive players, but who are the best of the best? Today we’re highlighting the league’s top 10 players for 2024.

Left Tackle Wyatt Milum from West Virginia University (Fall Camp 2024).

I know offensive linemen aren’t the most comfortable to talk about, but don’t worry, Milum is the only one on this list. The left tackle from West Virginia hasn’t allowed a single sack in nearly two years and is projected to be an early second-round pick. Another solid year in 2024 could propel him into the first round.

Hudson ranked third in the Big 12 in yards per catch last season, averaging 20.5 yards on just 44 passes caught. I know Gus Malzahn likes to run the football, but in 2024 they’re going to rotate it a little more and Hudson will be the target of choice.

Neal is one of the most explosive playmakers in the Big 12. Last season, he averaged 6.3 yards per carry and found the end zone 16 times. Neal rushed for 1,280 yards last fall, but I have a feeling he’ll top that in 2024.

Fifita had a great season as a redshirt freshman, completing an absurd 72% of his pass attempts, leading the Wildcats to a 10-3 record. Many in college football believe he is the next Bryce Young, but I don’t know if I’m willing to go that far.

Greene is the most underrated player in the league and perhaps the country. Sure, the 53% completion rate is hard to stomach, but there’s a reason it’s so low. West Virginia made several deep throws down the field and Greene was also very smart with the ball, throwing it away instead of forcing something that wasn’t there. He finished the year with 16 passing touchdowns and just four interceptions and scored another 13 touchdowns on the ground.

Brooks is a real liability when you take him to the ground. He’s one of the most physical runners in the Big 12, but he can also bounce the ball outside when he needs to. The Red Raiders’ RB1 has rushed for more yards (1,538) than anyone in the league not named Ollie Gordon.

RJ Harvey is one of the best players in college football that nobody really knows about. He may be undersized, but he can make a splash when he runs between the tackles. Harvey ran for 1,416 yards and scored 16 points a year ago. One interesting fact you probably didn’t know about him? He started his career as a quarterback at Virginia.

McMillan is on the Biletnikoff Award watch list for the 2024 season, and I’d bet he’s one of the three finalists by the end of the year. Last season, as a sophomore, McMillan caught 90 passes for 1,402 yards and ten touchdowns.

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders (2) throws the ball. Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

While I believe Shedeur Sanders is the most talented quarterback in the Big 12, I hesitate to put Colorado in the conversation for the Big 12 title. They have a lot of holes on their roster, which means Sanders will be under tremendous pressure to save them. He will put up big numbers in 2024 and push to be the first quarterback drafted next spring.

Oklahoma State's Ollie Gordon II (0) rushes. SARAH PHIPPS/THE OKLAHOMAN / USA TODAY NETWORK

Ollie Gordon finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting last year after rushing for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns on 285 carries. As long as he stays healthy, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be a finalist for the award this season.
