In 2019, John Cena had not yet found his footing in Hollywood films. Before his fame with James Gunn’s The suicide squad, Cena has often appeared in underrated films that flopped at the box office.

In one of these films, John Cena tried his best not to break out of character, while actor and comedian Keegan-Michael Kay used various antics from his books to make the scene as funny as possible.

When John Cena broke his character

The 2019 film we are referring to is titled Playing with fire. Starring John Cena, John Leguizamo, Tyler Mane and several others, the film was considered a failure but went on to become a cult classic.

The film tells the story of a fire brigade that has to take care of three naughty children who have been separated from their parents by an accident. The film also starred legendary comedian Keegan-Michael Key.

The comedian is often referred to as the “Robin Williams of the 21st century.” A clip from the film was shared on X and shows John Cena trying his best not to break out of character.

Of course, people reacted differently when they saw John Cena step out of character.

Well, Cena is indeed a great actor, but we understand that sometimes it’s not so great to be stuck in a scene with Keegan-Michael Key. On the other hand, Cena himself has a number of comedic films and scenes that fans love to watch.

And it’s not just his movies, John Cena is known for posting random pictures on his social media and he follows quite a lot of people too. Well, the wrestler turned actor has a very valid reason for his antics.

Why John Cena follows many people

Although there have been talks about the “most famous wrestler”, Cena is not far behind in terms of popularity. If we look at the numbers, John Cena follows 849,000 people on his social media account on X. Unlike other celebrities who follow certain people, Cena has 13 million followers and 849,000 people following him.

In his recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, the Peacemaker The actor was asked about the many people he followed on X. The actor’s answer was quite iconic.

The reason I want to follow everyone is because I want to hear from everyone. You learn everyone’s opinion and can therefore form your own opinion.

He continued:

I have to be honest, there is a lot of negativity. I want to be exposed to all of it, including the toxicity.

The actor was last seen in the recently released film Jackpot! starring John Cena, Awkwafina and Simu Liu. The film had average success but was not considered a great film overall.

On the other hand, the film by Keegan and Michael Key from 2019 Playing with fire received a rating of 5.1/10 on IMDB and 23% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The 2019 film will be available on Netflix from August 16, 2024.
