Reported incident at Aurora BayCare was a false alarm

GREEN BAY – An emergency call filed at Aurora BayCare Hospital Friday afternoon was found to be false, according to Green Bay police.

The hospital at 2845 Greenbrier Road was briefly locked down shortly after noon Friday, but the lockdown was lifted at 1:19 p.m. after no threat was identified.

No further information is planned to be released, said Jennifer Gonzalez, the department’s communications coordinator.

At the same time, Appleton police responded to an incident at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, 1818 N. Meade St., police said.

At around 12:30 p.m., officers from the Appleton Police Department, Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office and Grand Chute Police Department responded to the hospital’s report that someone told ThedaCare staff “that they were armed and had the intent to do harm,” according to a statement from the Appleton Police Department.

After officers established a perimeter and searched the hospital grounds, they were unable to detect any threat at the scene, Appleton police said around 2:50 p.m.

There was no immediate comment from ThedaCare.

The police investigation is ongoing. The police statement said officers are aware of similar incidents across the state.
