Notre Dame Football will wear green again in 2024

Notre Dame Football will wear green again in 2024

They’re back!

Notre Dame announced Thursday that the green jerseys will be back in use on September 28 in a game against Louisville in front of a sold-out crowd.

The green uniforms evoke mixed opinions and feelings among Notre Dame football fans. Some love the green but hate the green pants, some hate it outright because they believe the green brings bad luck, etc.

If Notre Dame opts for the all-green look again this year, fans will inevitably be reminded of last year’s heartbreaking game against Ohio State, the game where Notre Dame, wearing green, lost on the very last play.

There was a lot of criticism afterward about the all-green performance, but one can imagine that fans would feel differently if the Irish had beaten Ohio State that night instead of losing in such heartbreaking fashion.

As it stands, Notre Dame will wear four different uniforms this season, with the possibility of more. Since taking over as head coach, Marcus Freeman has shown more flexibility in switching up uniform options from game to game, compared to Brian Kelly’s style of always wearing the traditional home and away uniforms, as well as the Shamrock Series variation.

This season, Notre Dame will wear the traditional blue home uniform with gold pants, the traditional white away uniform with gold pants, the green uniforms with presumably green pants again, and finally the new 2024 Shamrock Series uniforms.

One interesting variation we could see in one of Notre Dame’s real-life away games this season could be the all-white look that has been added to EA Sports’ new video game College Football 25. As mentioned above, Notre Dame traditionally wears gold pants with the white jersey on the road, but the university has sent the all-white look to EA Sports as an option, meaning there is an intention to wear this combination at some point.

I realize that many people, like me, don’t care about the details of a uniform, but it’s fun and entertaining to follow such things, and whether you like it or not, recruits pay attention to such things.
