New Fishers Event Center to host Mudsock Game • Latest Releases

The annual Mudsock boys’ and girls’ basketball rivalry games between Hamilton Southeastern and Fishers high schools will be held on Dec. 20 at the new Fishers Event Center, which is scheduled to open in November.

The Fishers High School Tigers and Hamilton Southeastern Royals have met each year since the 2006-07 school year when Fishers High School opened. The HSE girls lead the series 11-6 and the HSE boys lead 10-7.

“The Fishers-Hamilton Southeastern rivalry is the highlight of the sports season,” FHS athletic director Jim Brown said in a press release. “Each year, the highly anticipated matchup draws a large crowd and creates a lively and competitive atmosphere at the venue. Fishers-Southeastern basketball games at the new Fishers Event Center generate excitement throughout the community.”
Jim Self, Hamilton Southeastern’s athletic director, agreed that it was exciting to play the annual game at the new center.

“A Friday night primetime girls and boys basketball doubleheader between the Royals and Tigers, just before the holiday season, in a facility that seats over 7,000 fans will be amazing,” he said. “What a great opportunity for our athletes, coaches, fans and the Fishers community.”

Mitch List, general manager of the Fishers Event Center, said the Mudsock game is a “legendary” addition to the center’s series of opening events this fall.

“We are excited to be the new home of this highly anticipated tradition,” he said. “This is just the beginning of many unforgettable events to come.”

Tickets are already on sale for the Dec. 20 event, which features a girls game at 6 p.m. and a boys game at 8 p.m., the release said. For more information, visit FishersEventCenter.com.
