Green-Wood Cemetery invites photographers to capture “a moment in time”

Submit your photos of Green-Wood Cemetery by August 30th.

Green-Wood Cemetery, in collaboration with Printique, has launched the “A Moment in Time” photography contest, inviting both novice and experienced photographers to capture the beauty, history and vibrant life of the cemetery in images.

Participants are invited to submit images that show their perspective on the community’s landmark and green space, be it a striking monument, a bird frozen in mid-flight, a concert in the catacombs or the serene beauty of a stroll through the cemetery, a press release said.

“We are excited to see how our visitors capture the essence of Green-Wood,” said Harry J. Weil, vice president of education and programming at Green-Wood Cemetery. “This photo contest and exhibit is a wonderful opportunity to showcase what the nearly half a million people who come through our gates love about this cemetery.”

Selected images will be printed by Printique and prominently displayed along the Green-Wood fence this fall to provide the community with an outdoor display honoring the historic landmark.

“At Printique, we believe in the power of photography to tell stories and preserve memories,” said Gabrielle Grace, Social Media Manager at Printique.

The contest runs through August 30, 2024, and ends at 11:59 p.m. PST. A panel of judges from Green-Wood and Printique will select ten winning photos. Winners will be notified via email after August 30, 2024.

Submission Guidelines:

  • One submission per person.
  • Only photos by Green-Wood are selected.
  • AI-generated submissions are not permitted.
  • You must reside in the greater New York City area.
