It’s a pretty happy birthday for Ben Affleck.
The famous actor and director is keeping his birthday celebrations “intimate” this year, as rumors of a divorce from his wife Jennifer Lopez continue to swirl. He turned 52 on Thursday, August 15.
A source told ET: “Ben plans to spend his birthday privately with close friends and family.”
In these turbulent times, blowing out birthday candles is not the most important thing for Affleck. Instead, he is concentrating on his children. Affleck and Lopez have a total of five children. Affleck has three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet (18), Seraphina (15) and Samuel (12). Lopez has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
The source explains that co-parenting in the patchwork family “works well.”
“Jennifer Garner is communicative and offers an understanding shoulder for Ben,” the source tells ET just two weeks after another source told ET that Affleck is “hopeful” after “making his family a priority” by moving to a new property closer to his and Garner’s children. Affleck purchased a $20.5 million estate with an equestrian farm in Los Angeles just weeks after putting the $60.8 million home he owns with Lopez up for sale.

ET’s latest source continues of Garner: “She is there for him every step of the way and is very supportive since the kids are involved. She also respects his personal and private life and doesn’t interfere too much.”
“Co-parenting is going well between Jen and Marc,” the source adds of Lopez and Anthony. “They have overcome any previous obstacles and simply want the best for each other and their children.”

Earlier this month, a source told ET that Affleck and Lopez are “waiting to announce their official separation because they want to make sure everything goes smoothly, especially between everyone involved.”
“They want to make sure the kids are comfortable with the transition and where they’re going to live, etc.,” ET’s source continued at the time. “They don’t want it to feel like they’re pulling the rug out from under their kids. They’re working together to make sure this transition is as healthy and easy as possible.”
The couple has recently spent vacations, events, and even their second wedding anniversary apart. Affleck was also absent from Lopez’s 55th birthday.Bridgerton-Themed birthday party in July.
For Lopez, her birthday party was without the GoneGirl Star was a “new beginning”.
“It’s been a rough year with some unexpected realizations, changes and obstacles, but Jen is trying to see her 55th birthday as a fresh start,” a source told ET at the time. “She’s trying not to let her situation with Ben get her down.”
While J.Lo wished her husband a happy birthday in an adorable Instagram tribute last year, she had yet to mention Affleck’s birthday on social media at the time of publication this year.
