John Cena explains why he would like a fixed date for his WWE retirement

John Cena has detailed his thoughts on the timing of his impending retirement from WWE.

Following his appearance at Money in the Bank, Cena stated that WrestleMania 41 would be his final match and that his final bout would take place in December of next year. While other wrestlers have hinted at an approximate date for their final bout or announced it shortly after it was completed, Cena has taken the rather unorthodox strategy of announcing his plans for his final farewell more than a year in advance.

Appears on CBS MorningCena explained that he thought it was good to have an end date because he wanted to be accountable to the fans:

“I feel great. My last appearance in the WWE ring will be in December 2025, period, and I like to say that because if I lie to my audience, they’ll call me out on my bullshit.”

Cena also stated that while he doesn’t know what will happen in the immediate future, he plans to make every day meaningful:

“I’ll know what’s next when it comes. But I also know that if I wake up every day and ask, ‘How can I earn the sunset?’ I’ll be doing something meaningful, and that will lead to something getting done.”

John Cena admits his retirement from WWE was long overdue

Cena has stated that his retirement from the ring will be permanent and that he will never wear jorts again after 2026. He has been thinking about ending his in-ring career for some time. In a previous interview, John Cena revealed when he first thought about ending his in-ring career.

In another interview, John Cena discussed the possibility of producing another wrestling movie.

H/t to Fightful.
