The Prince and Princess of Wales released another heartwarming tribute in honor of Princess Anne’s 74th birthday on Thursday.
Alongside three touching photos originally shared by King Charles and Queen Camilla, the royal couple wrote on their official social media account: “We wish the Princess Royal a very happy birthday!”
The montage of snapshots includes a black-and-white photo from the past showing young Prince Charles and Princess Anne at a picnic in the grounds of Royal Lodge in 1954, as well as a joyful image of a beaming Anne at a garden party at Buckingham Palace in 2023.
They also included a more recent picture of the monarch and his sister before Charles’ coronation, showing His Majesty presenting the new ruler’s standard to the Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons.
The birthday celebration comes shortly after Princess Anne’s participation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris among the royals. Her husband Sir Timothy Laurence accompanied her on the trip before they flew to Scotland for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the start of their summer holiday at Balmoral.
Over the course of the Games, the Royal was seen in the crowd at the rugby sevens, swimming, equestrian, hockey and rowing events. She also presented medals in the men’s 100m breaststroke, awarding the silver medal to Adam Peaty after he was beaten by just 0.2 seconds at the end.
Anne was also on hand to present the British team’s first gold medal to the winning equestrian team and to present gold medals to Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson and Georgina Brayshaw of the British team following their victory in the women’s quadruple sculls.
Meanwhile, Princess Anne is still recovering from a head injury sustained when she was kicked by a horse in June. The Queen is gradually resuming her royal duties after five nights in hospital.
Last month, Prince William and Princess Kate responded to Princess Anne’s return to royal duties with a rare social media message. “Great squad! So lovely to see you again so soon! W&C x,” the royal couple wrote on Instagram and X.
On July 12, she made her first public appearance since her accident, presenting awards at a horse competition at Hartpury University and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire. At the event, Anne told guests that she “cannot remember anything about the incident.”
