All is not well in Camp Kamala. The Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, is at war with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Vice presidential candidate Kennedy is fighting against the Democratic Party, which wants to prevent him from appearing on the ballot in several states. Kennedy, who comes from a traditional Democratic family, has filed for election as an independent.
The Democrats did not allow him to run for the nomination and instead carried out a political coup against President Joe Biden by installing Kamala Harris as their candidate – without asking Democratic voters or holding an open nominating convention.
Kennedy will appear on the Alaska general election ballot in November. He is also on the ballots in Delaware, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington and West Virginia. In California he is on the ballot as the candidate of the American Independent Party. In Hawaii he is the candidate of the We the People Party. In total that adds up to just over 200 electoral votes, but he needs 270.
But the Democratic National Committee and Democratic political action committees are erecting obstacles to block Kennedy’s eligibility and the votes of the other 70 electors. New York is denying Kennedy eligibility, and Democrats are denying him being on the ballot in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Delaware and Georgia.
Now the Harris campaign is at odds with Kennedy, claiming that leaks to pro-Harris media outlets such as the New York Times and the Washington Post, that RFK Jr. has tried unsuccessfully to meet with Harris to discuss supporting her in exchange for a cabinet post, and that all major media outlets are reporting on this rumor.
Kennedy has an approval rating of 34.4%, based on 122 polls, according to The Hill. That’s enough to partially erode Harris’ support between now and November, making him seen as a threat. The same poll total gives Harris a 49.5% approval rating, based on 164 polls, while Trump has a 44.0% approval rating, based on 470 polls.
While Harris tries to discredit Kennedy, RFK Jr. on X/Twitter doesn’t sound like someone who wants to be part of the Harris cabinet. He says he won’t support her. Kennedy took on Harris, writing:
“To my father and uncle, Vice President Harris’s Democratic Party would be unrecognizable, and I cannot reconcile it with my values.
“The Democratic Party of RFK and JFK was the party of civil liberties and free speech.
“Vice President Harris is the party of censorship, curfews and medical coercion.
“Kennedy’s Democrats were against the war. Kamala’s Democrats are riddled with neoconservative warmongers.
“The RFK/JFK Democrats were allies of Main Street, police officers, firefighters and workers.
“Vice President Harris is the party of big technology companies, pharmaceutical companies and Wall Street.
“My father and uncle’s party was the champion of voting rights and fair elections. Vice President Harris’s party, on the other hand, is a party of lawfare, disenfranchisement, and the coronation of its candidates by corporate donors and party elites.
“I have used our nation’s courts to prosecute corporations that harm Black Americans. Vice President Harris has used our nation’s courts to relentlessly prosecute Black Americans and exploit them for their labor.
“My father and uncle prided themselves on their debate skills and their ability to articulate a coherent vision for our country. Vice President Harris is terrified of debate and can’t get through an unscripted interview.
“Instead of outlining a vision, she relies on mediocre tactics – memes, fake headlines, infantile slogans (joy!) and name-calling (“Republicans are weird.”)
“I have spent years fighting corruption and lies in government. Vice President Harris has spent years ridiculing Americans about the health of our Commander in Chief. I have no plans to support Kamala Harris for President. However, I have a plan to defeat her.“
Kennedy is an environmental lawyer, author, and activist against the pharmaceutical industry and mass Covid vaccination. He is an iconoclast and renegade of the Democratic establishment, including his own family. It seems that the Harris campaign team expects him to support Donald Trump and is trying to harm him in advance.
Kennedy is the son of U.S. Attorney General, U.S. Senator and 1968 Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in Los Angeles during his campaign. He is also a nephew of Democratic President John F. Kennedy, who was also assassinated, and he comes from the aristocratic Kennedy family, which is considered to be staunch Democrats.
During his campaign, President Joe Biden refused to place RFK Jr. under Secret Service protection until the assassination attempt on Donald Trump was over.
