THE CROW reboot actually tries to be JOHN WICK in new bloody and violent clip — GeekTyrant

Lionsgate has released a new clip for its reboot of The Crowand it looks like the creative team is really trying to capture the tone and mood of the John Wick franchise. The only difference is that The Crow can’t dodge bullets.

The new clip takes place in an opera house. When a security team pursues The Crow and tries to kill him, he brutally beats them down.

director Rupert Sanders has previously spoken about the film and tried to explain that it is not just another Hollywood remake. He explained, “This film has nothing to do with Hollywood at all. It’s a very combative indie film.”

He continued to joke that they wanted to make a film that was closer to the creator James O’Barr’s source material. By making it more of an indie film, the creative team was able to “stay close to the core and the darkness and violence that is in the graphic novel.”

The director added, “We were only able to do that because it’s not a studio film.” He also said that the budget constraints made the film better: “You have to be more adept at making things more efficient, that resonate emotionally and are not just spectacles.”

In the film: “Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of their dark past catch up with them. When Eric is given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, he sets out to take merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to right what was wrong.”

There has been a first reaction to the film by warrior Screenwriter Cliff Dorfmanwho said: “If someone hypothetically happened to see a screening of @TheCrow_Movie #thecrow that @Lionsgate is releasing in August, they might say it’s awful, it’s unwatchable, don’t waste your money, or you can’t believe it’s so much worse than the original. It is. And don’t.”

This version of the film also features singers/actors FKA Branches, Daniel Huston (30 days of night), Laura Birn (Foundation), Sami Bouajila (A son), And Jordan Bolger (The Women King).

The Crow The reboot will be released in theaters on August 23, 2024.
