John Cena hopes Hollywood will make more wrestling movies

John Cena would like to see more films that focus on the world of professional wrestling.

In recent years, numerous films have dealt with the world of sports entertainment. The Wrestler In “The Movie,” Mickey Rourke played a former star who has seen better days and must come to terms with the reality that his best days are over.

In the meantime,The Iron Claw played the true story of the Von Erich family. Zac Efron starred in the film, which follows the trials, sorrows and heartaches of one of the most important wrestling families in Texas. Both films received critical acclaim and John Cena would like to see more of them.

The 16-time WWE Champion was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, with guest host Jeff Goldblum. Goldblum asked John Cena what he thought about Iron Claw, which led to a conversation about wrestling movies in general.

John Cena on pro wrestling films

John Cena said he thinks both The Wrestler And Iron Claw told great stories about the wrestling business and he hopes their success will inspire more wrestling movies to be made.

“I think movies about wrestling are a difficult subject. Movies like The Wrestler And Iron Claw did a really good job telling the stories of each individual. Wrestling is such a larger than life thing and there were so many memorable names. They gave me four that were standouts in Pittsburgh. Iron Claw is about four players who were star players in Texas. The Wrestler is the story of a star player who has passed his prime and how he tries to get his life back on track. It’s the story of a rock star who can no longer walk off the stage.”

“Wrestling, sports entertainment, WWE – it’s like a treasure chest full of stories. So when I see a well-made film like Iron Claw or The Wrestlerit gives me hope that more stories can be told because there are so many stories in our library.”
