Brooke Lambert appointed as juror to the prestigious New York Society of Graphic Artists – Lowell Sun

Brooke Lambert is one of Lowell’s busiest and most prolific artists, and for proof, look no further than her late summer and fall newsletter.

Her latest news includes the fact that she was recently accepted as a new member of the Society of American Graphics Artists (SAGA) in New York.

She says, “The Society of American Graphic Artists (SAGA) is a national arts organization supporting professional artists in the field of printmaking. SAGA offers its members exhibition and networking opportunities in the New York City area, and in addition to several major exhibition awards, many acquisition awards allow SAGA members to be included in the collections of major U.S. museums. Notable artists who have exhibited with SAGA include: Henri Matisse, Käthe Kollwitz, John Sloan, Edward Hopper, Pablo Picasso, Mary Cassatt, Joseph Pennell, John Marin, Childe Hassam, Will Barnet, and John Taylor Arms. As a member of SAGA, I will participate in exhibitions in New York City and across the country, as well as exhibiting and collaborating at the SAGA Gallery in Union Square in Manhattan. I couldn’t be more excited and honored to have been selected. I can’t wait for what’s to come.”

Currently, her art is on display at the Market Square Bakehouse, 5 Market St., Amesbury, through September 4. She will have a solo exhibition titled “Gradient” at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts, 1A North Rd., Chelmsford, from October 18 to November 26. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, October 18, from 5 to 7 p.m.

She points out that the exhibition consists of bas-relief sculpture paintings and original collagraphy prints.

“My work is heavily influenced by my love of the ocean – its infinity, its ever-changing beauty and its strength in chaos. My sustainable and reclaimed work is also inspired by the need to protect our environment, the duality of intimacy, the distance between people, change and portals into new, undiscovered spaces. I will arrange my work in a gradient of colors: from dark to light, deep underwater to the surface, symbolizing hope. I want to bring hope, happiness and awareness of the beauty that is all around us – even in the places we least expect it.”

In September she is the visual arts curator of the FOR THIS EARTH Eco-Arts Festival on September 21 at The Foundry, 101 Rogers St., Cambridge.

She works out of Studio 447 on the 4th floor of Western Avenue Studios, 122 Western Ave., Lowell. She is always present at Open Studios, 12-5pm, the first Saturday of every month or by appointment. Visit her website at www.brookelambertartist.com.
