The Boyle County football team was the center of attention at its annual “Meet the Rebels” season-opening event, but the football players weren’t the only ones in the spotlight Sunday at Rebel Stadium.

The event also recognized players from Boyle County Middle School and Boyle County Youth Football, as well as Boyle cheerleaders, dance team members and band members.

Boyle football players led a series of practices for the young players and there were other games and competitions for youth, and fans of all ages turned their attention to the upcoming season.

The local teams will play their final preseason games this week. Danville opens its season on August 23 against East Jessamine in West Jessamine, while Boyle begins on August 24 against Lexington Christian at Western Kentucky University.
